Khar-Khorin

Khar-Khorin

Kharkhorum is a historic city served as the capital of the Mongol Empire between 1235 and 1260, and of the Northern Yuan in the 14–15th centuries later Khublai moved the capital to Khanbalik (later called Beijing).

It was a beautiful city once built by the most skilled artisans and craftsmen and served as an international trade center that was linking Europe and Asia. Many historic scripts and accounts have mentioned about this great city but unfortunately, most parts of the capital were destroyed during the Stalinist purge/1930/. Today we can visit and see the remains of the historic capital which partially restored in 1965.
